Fishing & Day Fishing

Two and a half beautiful miles of the highly acclaimed and pristine Jackson River wind through our property. The Jackson River is renowned as providing some of the best fly-fishing on the east coast. Our picturesque, private stretch of the Jackson is healthy, vibrant and brimming with Rainbow Trout, which we stock throughout the year, as well as native Small Mouth Bass, “Red-Eye” Rock Bass and Sunfish. Anglers have also been known to land Brook Trout and Brown Trout as well. Fishing is strictly catch and release. Below is a list of flies we recommend.

The Jackson River flows to our property from Hidden Valley National Forest which directly abuts us to the north. In March, April and early May McConoughy Steelhead Trout, a hybrid fish introduced by the Department of Game & Inland Fisheries, make a spawning run to our portion of the river from nearby Lake Moomaw . We suggest using any attractive nymph or streamer to catch this unique species which feeds along the bottom of the river.

We plan on providing fishing reports to fly-fishing outfitters across the Mid-Atlantic to let you know how things are going.
